RED DRAGON INN is now a Certified Organic Processor (Certified by NASAA P2567)
This makes RED DRAGON INN Organic Ginger Beer one of only four Certified Organic Ginger Beers in the World -
the others being two in U.K. and one in N.Z.
Red Dragon Inn evolved purposefully from a Sunday Market stall to an ethical business of Organic beverage processing and wholesaling to all parts of Australia.
Richard Patton established a permanent stall at The Channon Market in early 1980 supplying fruits vegetables and
herbs from his property
Warra Warra Organic Farm
-210 acres- on a ridge in the border ranges of northern NSW.
At 370 metres adjacent Border Ranges National Park it has clean soil clean air and catchment controlled clean water.
The Channon Market - Australias first country market - is situated in a little village just north of Lismore in northern N.S.W.
The market provided a large part of his social life and wanting to help the community and emerging certified
organic growers he decided to sell traditional and own invention organic drinks at market using farm fruits and herbs.
The name Red Dragon Inn or originally "Ye Olde Red Dragon Inn" was a skit on the English Red Lion Inn 'pub' that Richard grew up
near to. Richard needed to decorate his previously unnamed drinks and fruit stall for a medieval fair in Nimbin. There was
jousting and there was a fully decked out medieval "Ye Olde Red Dragon" Inn with Richard looking like skinny
friar tuck with hair. The name stuck and is now registered as a business name for the commercial operation.
Richard has been, and still is a permanent stall holder at The Channon, Byron Bay, and Bangalow markets for
28 years now.
RED DRAGON INN traditional brewed in bottle organic ginger beer soon became an icon of the Northern Rivers
marketplace. Today a couple of generations of tourists from all over Australia and internationally know of RED
DRAGON INN Organic Ginger Beer from its presence at markets and festivals in the region.
Observing world events and sociological behaviours from his mountain top farm for 20 years Richard decided in
around 2000 that he had to act within the mainstream marketplace to help move local society to a more
sustainable and empowered future; by offering people clean, high quality, locally sourced nutritious delicious and
energistically enhanced drinks as a choice from predominantly denatured energergistically draining, low nutritional value,
chemically poisoned drinks on offer from the multinational and other unethical Corporations.
Richard felt that by raising nutritional and energistic (eg. Chi, Prana or life force)
qualities in food, allied with appropriate information (as per
this website), he could help raise people's awareness of
choices in food and drinks they consume. This would aid
regional sustainability issues and eventually lead to greater
individual and regional empowerment to better shape the
future we all want.
By 1 January 2003 Richard was able to supply RED DRAGON INN Organic
Ginger Beer to local retail outlets, processed in a new
purpose built kitchen near Lismore in northern
NSW.
RED DRAGON INN started from a market stall as a grass
roots biz and intends to keep in contact with these roots.
Thus it still maintains a market stall at The Channon, Byron
Bay and Bangalow Sunday markets, which offers organic
Ginger Beer on tap or in bottle and other locally sourced
organic drinks such as Mulberry Crush, Lemon Myrtle and
rosewater Iced Tea, Lemon Squash and other experimental
and seasonal drinks.
